Get Rid of Unwanted Scarring Through Scar Reduction

A scar is a type of fibrous skin that occurs when your skin is injured. It is considered to be a natural function of the healing process, with virtually every injury resulting in some degree of scarring. The scar tissue itself is made up of collagen, just as normal skin. Unlike normal skin containing collagen, scar tissue forms a random pattern of collagen fibers, leading to a raised or discolored appearance. If you are affected by scars, you should know that there are a number of treatment options for scar reduction.

Chemical Peel Scar Reduction

A chemical skin peel is a type of treatment involving the use of a chemical solution to remove damaged skin tissue. Your skin will then be remodeled in the area of treatment, and scars tend to be reduced afterward.

A glycolic chemical peel can be used in the case of superficial scars caused by acne, surgery, or trauma. We apply a chemical solution right to the treatment area, which is left for a certain amount of time. It is then rinsed away and neutralized. Over the following weeks, your skin will gradually remodel itself and should display a less prominent scar.

A phenol chemical peel is used in cases of deep scars. It will remove the epidermis skin layer and some of the dermis layer found under the epidermis. Although it is a strong treatment that requires significant downtime, it also offers the most dramatic results available in scar reduction.

Microneedling to Reduce Scars

Microneedling is a great all-around skin treatment that helps to minimize common skin problems like enlarged pores, wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, and scars. It makes a good treatment choice for light to moderate scarring and is non-invasive scar removal.

After completely cleansing your skin in the treatment area, we use a topical numbing agent to ensure your comfort during your procedure. We use a small device coated in fine needles to form thousands of microscopic injuries on the surface layers of your skin affected by the scar. This will stimulate your body into producing new collagen fibers to remodel the scar tissue. Your results will build very naturally in the weeks and months after your microneedling treatment.

Fractionated Laser Resurfacing

This type of precision laser treatment utilizes tiny light beams that deeply penetrate your skin. It creates numerous microscopic holes left in the place of skin cells that have been removed. Surrounding skin tissue is unaffected. These holes trigger the formation of new collagen inside deep layers of your skin. The intact skin tissue around the treatment area quickly heals the damage created by the process, leading to the formation of fresh, new skin tissue.
